Ras Al Khaimah, March 20 (WAM) - The Ras Al Khaimah Award for Educational Excellence recognized 104 talented kindergarten children from 10 kindergartens in the final qualifying round for the Gifted Student category in the third edition of 2016-2017. The event took place at the Academy of Giftedness in Ras Al Khaimah. The subcategories included the Gifted Student category in mathematical operations, which involved 38 children, the Gifted Student category in drawing, which involved 28 children, the Gifted Student category in calligraphy, which involved 21 children, and finally the Gifted Student category in oratory and public speaking, with the participation of 17 children.

Dr. Mohammed Abdul Latif Khalifa, Director of the Sheikh Saqr Government Excellence Program, which the award follows, said that the vision of the award focuses on "Sustainable Educational Excellence in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah". The award management has committed to addressing all categories of the educational field in the emirate, whether as educational institutions or as leaders and administrative, teaching, or student entities in various classifications, or as parent councils, educational institutions, and supportive figures for education, as well as researchers in the educational field. The award has also committed to translating the initiatives of the state in its various categories, as well as aligning with the new strategy and restructuring at the Ministry of Education. For example, the children's drawing competition was focused on the Year of Goodness initiative and the Mars 2117 project, as part of evaluating the Gifted Student category in drawing.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fuwaqi Al Taniji, the award coordinator, said that the number of children who reached the final evaluation this year increased by 70% compared to last year, which reflects the extent of interest from kindergartens and parents to raise the skill level and develop the abilities and talents of children in various fields. This is consistent with the strategy of the Ministry of Education and the strategic document of the award.
